The BakBeatz together after a show

The BakBeatz are a collection of seriously talented musicians who know that chops only matter when they serve the song.

At the center is Todd East — an exceptional pianist and the kind of vocalist that makes people stop mid-conversation and turn toward the stage. Soulful, effortless and ridiculously musical, Todd brings a voice and feel that are simply special.

And it doesn’t stop there. Multiple lead vocalists, stacked background vocals, multi-instrumentalists and a horn section loaded with legitimate soloists. Sax and trombone move from the iconic lines you know into technically impressive, completely improvised solos.

Instruments change hands. Leads get passed around. Arrangements stretch. Solos happen because somebody feels one coming — not because the setlist says solo here.

Everybody on that stage can play.
But nobody is there to show off.
It’s tasty. It’s musical. It’s in the pocket.

GROOVIFUL.
